6,000 Square Foot Residence

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen to wood frame a 6,000 sq foot residence in Connecticut.  The home has multiple roof lines and sections.

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen to frame a 2100sq feet home on the Massachusetts border. TR Wells also did the window/door install and the siding and trim.

Residential Deck Remodel - Windsor Deck Remodel

TR Wells Custom Framers were recently called upon to reframe and shore up an existing deck on a residence in Windsor Mass.  The job entailed removing one entire section of floor joists and support beams, pouring new piers, adding new carrier beams, 6x6 posts, and new joists to support Azek decking.  The job also entailed new supports under existing sunroom, removal of decking, and new decking and railing systems around the perimeter.  Homeowners were very happy with end result, loved the custom railing installed only for view purposes, and the matching of the house with the Azek color charts.

Complete Overhaul of Exterior - Complete Overhaul of a 2 Story Building on Mt. Everett School's Campus

TR Wells was chosen as the general contractor for a complete overhaul of the exterior on a two story building on Mt Everett School’s campus. The project was done in two separate phases and was performed in consecutive fiscal years due to budgetary constraints. During the first phase, vinyl clapboard siding was installed on the main body and vinyl shakes to match were installed on the gables. New white aluminum coil stock was chosen to wrap around all of the existing woodwork. During phase two, new Mathews Bros all vinyl windows were installed in the existing window frames.

Residential Pressure Treated Deck - Deck Project in Dalton MA

TR Wells was chosen to build a new deck on an existing house in Dalton Mass. The deck was built out of pressure treated lumber, pressure treated decking, and pressure treated railings. First the pre-cast concrete piers were dug and installed with the help of Ed Whitaker Landscaping’s’ tractor with backhoe attachment. Then the framing was installed with careful consideration to proper flashing and joist hanger attachments. Finally the finish decking and railing was applied to create a nice lounge area for next summer. Ed Whitaker came behind for the finishing touches with topsoil and grass seed to create a completely finished product to the happy homeowners.

Residential Window Trim & Corner Boards Project in Windsor MA

TR Wells was chosen to replace all of the existing window trim and corner boards on an existing two story colonial in Windsor, Ma. This project consisted of removing the old pine trim and replacing with primed cedar window trim and Azek corner boards. We also installed new trim on the chimney. While the windows were exposed, we took the opportunity to install new flashing tape around the perimeter of the window flanges to ensure a weather tight seal for years to come. We also re caulked the trim to clapboard connections with a high quality exterior caulk and prepared the clapboards for a new paint job.

Complete Window & Exterior Trim Replacement - Complete Residential Window & Exterior Trim Replacement Project in Northwest CT

TR Wells was chosen as the general contractor for a complete window and exterior trim replacement in Northwest Ct. Windows chosen were Marvin Integrity Wood Ultrex with an Azek low maintenance surround on the exterior. A replacement option was chosen due to the unique construction of the home and we replaced any damaged window sills deemed necessary. The windows were installed over a two year period due to budget constraints. We also installed a new aluminum drip cap on the top of the new trim and embedded the trim in a bead of caulk sealant.

TR Wells was chosen as the general contractor for a complete exterior remodel of a local residence in Florence, Ma. The job ran into immediate problems when lead paint was found to be present on the exterior siding and windows but with the help of Greylock Environmental the remediation process went quickly and we were soon back in business. The electrical work was performed by James Dudas Electric.

Oak and Spruce Resort in Lee MA

TR Wells Custom Framers LLC was hired as a subcontractor to perform various framing tasks on the Oak and Spruce Resort in Lee, Ma.  Part of the project was to remove and rebuild an exterior deck with a handicapped ramp attached all made out of premium pressure treated decking.  We were also asked to frame in a complete time share unit inside the third story of an existing building. The unit was to be a sales showroom complete with kitchen cabinets and plumbing fixtures to assist in the sales process.  TR Wells framed in two such units to show the different options available.

Entire Exterior Remodel - 6000 Square Foot House

The current project of TR Wells Custom Framers is the entire exterior remodel of an existing South County Estate. The project entails removing all of the existing siding, roofing, windows on the main 6000 square foot house, framing two new additions, installing a new roof, windows, doors, and cedar clapboard siding and Azek trim. Pictures to follow soon on this portion of the project.

Pictured here is the pool house on the property that had a large dormer framed in, new interior wall partitions, and new roof installed, and new cedar clapboards all installed by TR Wells Custom Framers on a subcontracting basis.

Further plans call for a new pool shed and two story caretaker’s house to be built on the same property.

Residential Framing Roofing & Siding - Unique residential garage addition to an existing house

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen as the general contractor on this unique residential garage addition to an existing house in the Berkshires. The homeowner was concerned about the garage not blending in with the original main structure so Tim Wells worked with his local lumber supplier to ensure the new trusses would blend in to the existing home. Wells Custom Framers was also tasked with performing roofing duties on the entire new and old structure and installing concrete board siding on the new garage portion of the home.

Framing & Windows - Unique two car oversized garage

This unique two car oversized garage with workshop above was framed by TR Wells in the hill towns of the Berkshires. The garage was built into a side hill for a local homeowner who performed the finishing touches himself. TR Wells performed the framing, installed the roof trim, and also installed the windows.

Commercial Framing & Siding - James Hardi siding on Commecial Development

TR Wells Custom Framers performed the wood framing and James Hardi siding on this commercial development in Lanesboro Ma. The project was for lake cottages rentals, 6 separate buildings on a lake setting in the Berkshires and was built in the winter for summer use. The General Contractor /Owner wanted each cottage to be unique via exterior trim and framing details.

Framing & Roofing - Hinsdale Roof

TR Wells was chosen as the framing contractor to remove the existing roof structure on an occupied apartment building in Hinsdale Ma.  The job entailed the complete removal of an existing hipped roof and the construction of a gable roof, steeper pitched, and new plywood.  The job went smoothly as the roof rafters were all precut and ready to assemble in order to keep the existing structure as dry as possible.  Through the use of TR Wells lull, the job was quickly and efficiently turned around with no damage to existing ceilings.

Framing and roofing project at a prestigious children’s camp in Southern Berkshire County, Ma. TR Wells was hired as a subcontractor to frame the 4500 square foot building and surrounding deck as well as install a 50 year architectural roof.

Complete Residential Remodel - Complete exterior residential remodel in Western MA

TR Wells Custom Framers was the general contractor for this complete exterior residential remodel in Western MA. The entire scope of work consisted of removing existing board and batten siding, installing an exterior insulation board, wood strapping, new Marvin all Ultrex windows, new entry doors, new rear deck, James Hardi clapboard siding, and an Azek trim to completely renovate the exterior envelope. 

General Contractor Renovations - New Entry Way

Wells Custom Framers was hired as a general contractor to replace the existing front steps on a Berkshire County residence.  Part of the project was to stop a water leak that had started behind the existing stairs through the foundation.  With the help of Ed Whitakers Landscaping we were able to dig down in two different spots, install hydraulic cement and tar at the leaks.  We then installed new piers and built a new front entry system using low maintenance products for longevity.  
TR Wells prides itself on not only performing quality service and work but also employing specialty subcontractors when the need arises. Ed Whitaker Landscaping reseeded the area, planted a new shrub, and trimmed the existing shrubs to complete the project for another satisfied homeowner.

Residential Siding - Residential Siding Project in Great Barrington MA

TR Wells was chosen as the general contractor on a complete siding installation job in Great Barrington Mass. The project was a two phase job consisting of an entire house replacement of existing windows. The new windows chosen were Anderson A series new construction windows which were installed in 2015 with new interior trim applied. This phase consists of new James Hardi Shake panel siding and trim being applied over a new housewrap and breather system after removing the original T 111 siding. The project is currently under construction.

TR Wells Custom Framers was hired as the general contractor to rebuild front entry, remove existing cedar clapboards, install new vinyl siding, and install a new roof on this second home in Copake NY.

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen as the framing and siding contractor for this large new construction Southern Berkshire Estate.  The 12000 square foot building was entirely stick framed and featured a complex roof framing system.  TR Wells also installed the windows, cedar clapboards, and cedar shakes on this project.

Commercial Framing - Williams College Project

Wells Custom Framers LLC was proud to be chosen as the framing contractor on the Hewat House elevator addition at Williams College. The project started as a relatively small but interesting addition but quickly grew to a complete interior framing of walls, partitions, and many structural changes in order to create new office space for Williams. Wells Custom was also chosen as the siding contractor and window installer and will be completing this project in the upcoming months.

Commercial Framing - Dennis MA

TR Wells Custom Framers was recently chosen as the framing contractor on the Dennis Highlands Golf course additions awarded via the General Contractor – Haynes Group out of West Bridgewater Mass.  The public golf course located in Dennis Mass had bid out two large additions to their already existing clubhouse to enlarge the office and dining areas.  Even though TR Wells was physically located on the other end of the state, we made the commitment to the 3 week project and were able to complete the project on time and on budget.  The two additions were framed, existing roof demolished and removed and new roof trusses installed with the help of a local crane service.   TR Wells was proud to be chosen for this structure and look forward to new opportunities throughout Ma, Ct, and RI as our reputation for doing quality commercial wood framing grows. 

Commercial Framing - Montessori School Addition

TR Wells was chosen as the framing contractor for the new Montessori School Addition in Lenox, Ma.  The project consisted of a large multi-purpose room (gymnasium), music room, and connecting area to the existing structure.  The project while not very large in nature presented a challenge in the connection to the old school and also due to the very tall walls that needed to be framed out of 2x8 lumber.  Both challenges were met by the TR Wells crew and the project was successfully completed during the early months of January 2018.

Commercial Framing - Mass New York Border

T.R.Wells was chosen as the framing contractor on a 70’x30’ commercial structure on the Western Mass/ New York border. The wood frame building consisted of walk out space, interior staircase, and 10’ walls on upper level, with a truss roof. With the help of Greater Heights crane service we were able to set the truss roof in one day.

TR Wells was chosen as the framing subcontractor on a commercial building in Northampton. The building which is currently being framed is an addition to an existing building. Wells was tasked with the interior and exterior wall framing, sheathing on roof and walls, and siding. More pictures will be following.

TR Wells was chosen as the framing contractor for a condo project in Pittsfield, Ma.  Over the course of two years, Wells Custom Framers framed 20 individual condos.

Commercial Framing - Framing new wood repair shop in CT

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen by a local CT businessman to frame a new wood repair shop at his existing location.  The wood framed building was built with 16’ walls, truss roof, metal siding and roofing.  TR Wells performed all of the scope of work.

Commercial Framing - 40 Unit Housing for the elderly

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen as the framing subcontractor for this 40 unit housing for the elderly in Williamstown, Ma.  The 45000 square foot building was entirely framed in wood and had to pass stringent air tests in order to achieve a stretch code designation for grant considerations. New advanced framing techniques were used to achieve the strict insulation standards.

T.R Wells Custom Framers was chosen as the framing subcontractor on this new modern residence in Becket, Mass. Framing was performed during the winter months and was a mixture of steel and wood. Pella windows were provided by general contractor and installed by T.R Wells.

This particular project was a mix of wood framing and steel to provide a contemporary / commercial feel in a residential setting. Built during the winter months of 2016 and spring of 2017, TR Wells framed and installed the Pella windows on this project.

TR Wells was hired as a subcontractor to frame a new pool house addition on an existing southern Berkshire Estate.  The new pool house featured an Olympic size indoor pool entirely framed with wood and cedar shake siding.  TR Wells also framed a new garage dormer on the same project.  All of the exterior trim, siding, and window installation was performed by Wells Custom Framers as well.

Residential Window Installation - Difficult Residential Window Replacement Project in Kent CT

TR Wells was chosen for a difficult Marvin window installation in Kent Ct. The job consisted of replacing 6 existing windows without disturbing the interior trim on a large Ct estate. The method chosen to replace was to remove existing window from the exterior, remove the existing window jambs, and then butt the new window into place against the interior trim. Although time consuming and fairly difficult, we were able to install all of the windows without disturbing the interior trim or damaging the walls. Not an easy feat! We also replaced the existing window trim with a low maintenance product.

Residential Window Installation - Complete Residential Window Replacement Project in Hinsdale MA

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen as the general contractor for a complete home window replacement job in Hinsdale Mas. The project consisted of replacing 25 windows on the first and second floor and 12 windows in the attic. For the first two floors, Marvin Integrity Wood Ultrex windows were chosen so we could match the wood interior trim and provide for a maintenance free exterior. To save on the total budget, Mathews Bros all vinyl windows were installed in the attic. Wells was also tasked with the job of matching several year old stain on the interior trim with the new windows so they would blend in. After a few custom blends we were able to achieve this goal.

TR Wells was chosen to install new Integrity by Marvin replacement windows in Florence Mass. The install consisted of removal of existing window and exterior trim and replacement with a new coil stock exterior.

This project located in Dalton Ma used TR Wells Custom Framers as the general contractor to install Anderson new construction windows throughout, and new James Hardi siding and trim. New window openings were framed in to create a wall of windows on the gable side of the existing family room.

Commercial Window Installation - Soldier On Project

T.R Wells Custom Framers was proud to be chosen as the window framing and installation contractor on the Soldier On project in Agawam, Mass. The project consisted of the installation of 220 windows provided by Pella. The Project provided 51 homeless veterans the opportunity to transition from homelessness to homeownership.

These before and after pictures show a commercial window installation project at Smith College in Northampton, Ma performed on a subcontracting basis by TR Wells Custom Framers. The entire dorms windows were removed and replaced for a total of 128 windows. The challenge on this project was to install the windows in an existing masonry opening, sealing and caulking the exterior in order to pass an extremely rigid water and air penetration test performed by an independent contractor hired directly by Smith College. The air and water test results were extraordinary and TR Wells passed on the first attempt due to significant planning and care during the install.   TR Wells was also responsible for installing the interior trim on the windows as well.

Commercial Window Installation - Smith College's Sage Hall

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen as the window installer on this project at Smith College’s Sage Hall. The project was very detailed oriented and challenging, as TR Wells was tasked with providing and installing 15 large windows on a historic building in the heart of Smith Colleges’ campus. The challenge on this project was to remove and install 8 large round top windows – each one measuring 7’ wide x 17’ tall and to have them fit in the existing masonry openings. We were also tasked with installing 7 7’ round diameter windows on the dome on top of Sage Hall.

Commercial Window Installation - Window Installation in historic Hopson Building

TR Wells Custom Framers was chosen as the general contractor for the window installation project in the historic Hopson Building in Naugatuck Ct.  This job entailed the installation of 68 aluminum framed exterior with a primed wood interior Marvin windows in an existing office building on a busy main street while the offices were fully occupied.  Using scissor lifts, man lifts, interior tents to control the dust and noise, TR Wells was able to complete the new construction window install in a few weeks without disturbing the office inhabitants.
